Cave of Wonders

The mysterious caves in the Dominican Republic are the best setting for a day of family adventures. The Cave of Wonders is perhaps one of the most famous. It is located approximately an hour and 15 minutes from Playa Bávaro, and it is totally worth exploring.

The cave is famous for its geological formations, but also for having incredible specimens of Taino art, whose rock art is known throughout the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean. 

The cave can be visited with children, as they are the ones who will enjoy this activity the most as they fantasise about the cave’s exciting past.

Once inside, the pictorial gallery will leave you speechless. This area features an artificial lake that was created to reflect the cavity’s ceilings for an even more striking effect.

On the other hand, the so-called Great Panel is where the Taino representations can be found. According to studies, these drawings refer mainly to funeral rituals, although there are other isolated drawings of a different nature. 

There is one thing that is important to keep in mind, which is that the cave has several inhabitants, including bats, who take centre stage when kids see them flying around the stalactites. Quite an experience indeed!

Indigenous Eyes Ecological Reserve

This natural ecological reserve has numerous freshwater lagoons where the whole family can cool off in the most jungle-esque environment.

But that’s not all it has to offer, since the park has a section that explains all about the island’s natural and cultural history, which will give you the opportunity to learn lots of new things that may surprise you. In addition, there is a zoo with animals from the island and other activities such as sugar cane exhibits. And you can find all of this in one place!

Blue Hole

The natural pools of the Blue Hole are so dreamy that they’ll make the perfect option for an incredible family plan.

The water is an intense turquoise blue colour and the pools can be found at the foot of a cliff, in one of Punta Cana’s many natural parks.
